Is There any Biblical Authority
for Religious Diversity?

The religions of the world are as diverse as
the shades of color. This disunity can be rightly attributed to a failure of
"handling aright the word of truth" (2 Timothy 2.15). The Bible
teaches, "Now I beseech you, brethren, through the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ [i.e. by Christ's authority], that ye all speak [i.e. teach] the same
thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfected
together in the same mind and in the same judgment" (1 Corinthians
1.10). This is only possible by accepting the word of truth as our only standard
in matters of religion and those things pertaining thereto (John 12.48), and by
securing the ability to "handle aright the word of truth" through
an earnest effort in the education, meditation, and application of the Word of
God. It is not enough to merely accept the Bible as the verbal, plenary,
inspired Word of God; we must also, through sound principles of reason (cf.
Isaiah 1.18), properly interpret (i.e., come to terms with the intended meaning,
Nehemiah 8.8; Luke 24.27,32) the Bible. "Let God be found true, but every
man a liar" (Romans 3.4). God is true!
